Default Sunglass holder not staying up....srsly??

So the car just turned 70k miles and T doesn't even use the sunglass holder but bumped it by accident and so of course it opened. She went to shut it and it won't stay closed. Thoughts and ideas welcome. Cannot imagine taking it to the dealer for this!!!

If it doesn't work and it is still under warranty I would definitely take it back.

Doubt warranty is good at 70k miles. Have you looked into using small Velcro tabs to secure it if it cannot be fixed?

Mine is broken also. Car has 40k miles and it just stopped closing last week. I called the dealer and the parts guy can't even find the part in his system! I have to remove the overhead console to get a part number and will post if have any luck.

Default Sunglass holder repair

This turned out to be a lot easier than I thought it would be.
1. Remove the overhead console
a. Start by using trim removal tool to pry front down

1. Remove the overhead console
a. Start by using trim removal tool to pry front down
b. Remove torx screw located in sunglass compartment
c. gently pry away sides of console but be careful not to bend the two metal retaining clips
2. when you look at the underside of the overhead console you will notice the mechanism that controls the holder. The small, white tab inside is what locks it in place. All you have to do is take a super small screwdriver and push it up and over until it catches again!
Good luck!

Anyone else tried this? Seems like it's not THAT easy for a noob and I always panic about smashing some fragile pieces of plastic in the process. Just got a '07 A6 C6 and the holder malfunctioned almost immediately after purchase (how odd!). Besides, I don't know what the Audi guys were thinking making it this small.
