As part of an April Fools article, I created two images of a fictional Audi SUV. These images were created from a number of different photos to create the final product.

First I first started with hi-res press photos of the Audi AllRoad quattro. After a lot of cloning, airbrushing, and cut-and-pasting, I had created a pretty believable SUV.

While the images look pretty good and are just as believable as any of the other images, I decided to go a few steps further and make them look like real spy photos. My goal was to have them look like I had just seen this drive by and snapped a few lucky shots of it.

After looking through all the photos A4.Org had taken in Germany, I found two location shots that would work perfectly. As luck would have it, both images were taken in a parking lot as an A4 Avant police car drove past us. The biggest challenge with using these location shots was to make my modified AllRoad quattro, which was photographed on a bright sunny day, look as if it was photographed on the same overcast day as these location photos. After a lot of color correction and more airbrushing, I finished my spy photos. Overall, each image took about 6 hours to create.

Since we know that most of the spy photos are fake, what about the information that usually accompanies the photos? Most publications have reported that the next-generation A4 will debut next year as a 2001model. Is there any truth to this?
