2022 Audi RS lineup -- 2022 Audi R8

Flat-bottom steering wheels, new packages, more options, wheel changes, and more power. Here’s the updated 2022 Audi RS lineup.

Audi Sport has had a few busy years, so it’s not a surprise to see no major 2022 model year changes. But if you’re in the market for a new Audi RS vehicle, you might want to way a model year. Because Audi’s adding several new standard features and optional packages for their sportiest 2022 sedans, coupes, and SUVs. (FYI, the 2022 RS e-tron GT is all-new, so we won’t be covering that in this post.)

Expect to see all of these vehicles and new/returning features at Audi dealerships later this summer. However, please note that Audi only provided a 2022 Audi R8 photo, so every other pictured Audi RS is a previous model year. (Sorry.)

2022 Audi RS 5 Coupe / Sportback

2021 Audi RS 5 Coupe launch editions

The 444-horsepower RS 5 Coupe and Sportback are back with three new 2022 MY packages.

The RS Design package includes “front safety belts with red edging, RS logo floor mats with red edging, and an Alcantara wrapped steering wheel, shift lever, and center console. ” (Expect to see this one again.)

The Bronze Styling package adds both styling and performance goodies. These include “black Audi rings and badges, matte carbon exterior front spoiler and rear diffuser trim, RS carbon matte inlays, matte carbon exterior side mirror housings, Audi exclusive Bronze stitch interior package, and 20-inch 5-arm-peak design wheels milled-cut with a bronze finish and wrapped in 275/30 summer performance tires.”

Last but not least, snag the Dynamic Plus package if you want a “174 mph top track speed limiter, carbon engine cover, gray brake calipers, and ceramic front brakes.”

2022 RS 6 Avant / RS 7

Trio of Audi RS models

Welcome back to one of the most amazing wagons of all time, the RS 6 Avant, and its RS 7 sibling. These models are relatively new, but expect “standard Carbon twill structure inlays and on the RS 7, an available Dinamica headliner.” The RS Design package mentioned above is optional here as well, and includes a flat-bottom Alcantara steering wheel with contrast stitching.

Audi also adds the optional Dynamic Ride Control (DRC), which is an adjustable suspension system “designed to ensure an immediate response system to reduce the vehicle’s weight from shifting front to back, or side to side.” And last but not least, if you select the Carbon or Black optic packages, you can select a new black 22-inch wheel.

What a time to be alive, folks. (Nearly) 600 horsepower SUVs are a wonderful reality. The 2022 Audi RS Q8 updates reflect mostly design and safety concerns. First Adaptive Cruise Assist with Traffic Jam Assist and Audi Active Lane Assist are now standard. And, if you opt for the Executive Package, Audi adds Traffic Sign Recognition and Intersection Assist for even more driver assistance. And last, but not least, you will be shocked to learn that the RS Design package is also available on the RS Q8.

Great news, rear-wheel-drive R8 fans, Audi’s bumping power figures for 2022. Dubbed the 2022 R8 performance RWD, expect 562 horsepower and 406 lb.-ft. of torque (up from 532hp, 398 lb.-ft.) RWD R8s also boast two new packages:

The Dynamic package includes “ceramic front and rear brakes, 20-inch 5-double-spoke-dynamic design, milled-cut, titanium finish wheels, and Racing shell seats in Fine Nappa leather.” And the Sport Exhaust package adds a four-button steering wheel with Performance modes and a sport exhaust system with black exhaust tips.

It appears the all-wheel-drive R8 Performance will remain unchanged.
