2023 Audi e-tron RS GT Now Comes With $20,000 Discount
Audi sent a bulletin to dealers informing them of massive discounts available on e-tron GT models.
The Audi e-tron GT comes in base and RS flavors. Both of them offer stirring EV performance thanks to powerful battery packs they share with their Porsche Taycan sibling. However, they also come with another Porsche trait, which is a high base price. A 2023 e-tron GT comes with an MSRP of $106,395. The more powerful e-tron RS GT will set you back $145,395 before you add a single option. For the sake of comparison, a new Tesla Model S Plaid starts at $89,990. Even loaded up with full self-driving capability the Tesla barely cracks the $100k mark.
In order to better compete on price INSIDEEVs is reporting that Audi sent a bulletin to all U.S. dealers informing them of a new, massive discount in the form of a National Consumer Credit. This credit is applied across the e-tron GT line. The e-tron RS GT will come with a $20,000 discount for 2023 models, which results in a new base price of $125,395. The 2023 e-tron GT gets a $12,500 discount for new base price of $93,895. The 2024 models are also reportedly getting discounts of between $5,000 and $10,000 depending on the trim.
2024 e-tron GT Line
With the new incentives the 2023 models are a much better buy right now. 2024 models are just starting to roll out but the changes for 2024 are minimal and don’t justify the higher price and much lower discount. For 2024 you will get new matrix LED headlights and laser high beams. A new power steering system that varies effort based on speed and a six-month subscription to Audi’s Connect Plus infotainment app are also part of the 2024 package. However, the base price for the GT and RS GT both increased by a couple grand and the discount for 2024 is much smaller. So, we recommend seeking out a 2023 if you want the best deal.
e-tron GT Performance
Both the e-tron GT models offer plenty of performance. The base GT generates 522 horsepower and the RS adds another 115 horsepower on top of that for a total of 637. The RS will get you to 60 mph in less than 3 seconds and the base GT gets you there in about 3.5 seconds. Either one has enough shove to make your passengers nauseous if you launch it without warning. The GT gets a slightly better EPA mileage rating at 238 miles of range compared to 232 miles of range for the RS.
Competition
The Tesla Model S is still priced well below the Audi GT models even with the new discount. However, the e-tron GT cars are much better-looking cars, are better built, and exude more luxury than the Tesla. The Lucid Air is probably a better comparison. The Touring model offers similar luxury and performance for a price right around $100k. However, the Lucid does offer a much longer range rating of up to 425 miles. Lucid is still an unknown entity compared to Audi, but they offer an intriguing option. The upshot of all this is that electric vehicles are going to continue to improve. Newcomers are going to push the established brands to do better. And prices are going to continue to fall as performance continues to improve.
