Audi Q6 e-tron to be Revealed on March 18

Audi claims that the new Q6 e-tron will ‘overtake your expectations.’

It seems like we have been talking about it forever, but the Audi Q6 e-tron finally has an official reveal date. According to a post on the Audi AG LinkedIn page, on March 18 we will get to see the production version of the highly anticipated EV. What we do know now is that the Q6 e-tron will ride on the Premium Platform Electric (PPE) that will also support the Porsche Macan EV. Beyond that we have a lot of speculation. Replies to the Audi AG LinkedIn post included questions such as “will there be an S variant?” and “will it have seven seats?” Audi AG replies to the questions by stating that they will not provide any further details until the official reveal date.

Our best guess at this point is that the regular Q6 e-tron will provide roughly 395 horsepower and that an SQ6 variant would provide close to 500 horsepower. We project that the vehicle will come with a 93-kWh battery pack with prismatic-style lithium-ion cells for improved energy density. The estimated range will vary by model, but we expect rating around 315 miles for the most efficient model.

Premium Platform Electric

prototype

The PPE architecture was developed by Porsche and Audi for their all-electric cars. The new all-electric Macan will be the first to use it, and the Q6 e-tron will be the first Audi to get it. The PPE uses a powerful 800-volt architecture that will provide the power, range, and charge management capabilities that Porsche and Audi buyers expect. The system is capable of supporting over 700 foot-pounds of torque.  Charge rates are expected to be as high as 270 kW. That means that at a fast-charging station the Q6 e-tron can be charged from 5 percent to 80 percent in less than 25 minutes.

Interior

Interior

The interior of the Q6 e-tron is so special that it got its own reveal last fall. As you would expect in a new luxury EV the interior of the Q6 is dominated by screens. There is an 11.9-inch gauge cluster screen, a 14.5-inch infotainment touchscreen, and a 10.9-inch touchscreen that sits in front of the front passenger. If that is not enough display space for you, there is an optional head-up display with augmented reality. The new Audi will have an artificial intelligence assistant that will learn the driver’s preferences and make suggestions based on them. Also, inside there will be customizable ambient lighting so you can match the colors with your current mood.

Exterior

Q6

The Q6 e-tron will have a set of innovative features that will define the exterior look of the vehicle. The Q6 is expected to usher in the world’s first active digital light signature. Drivers will be able to select digital light signatures for the headlights and rear lights via the MMI and the myAudi app. There are a total of eight optional digital light signatures in the redesigned daytime running lights in the Matrix LED headlights and digital OLED rear lights 2.0. It is also possible to purchase additional light signatures after purchasing the Q6.

The Q6 e-tron promises to be an exciting add to the Audi lineup. We can’t wait to get all the details and share them with you later this month.
