Audi R8 LMS at the 12 Hours of Imola – Onboard Footage

Even better, while at most supercar experiences or race car ride-alongs you only get a handful of minutes or laps to enjoy the thrill, this onboard footage by race-media.tv lasts a whopping 42 minutes!

If you’re a fan of Audi motorsports, then you’ll absolutely enjoy this footage. It may not be the most action-packed, and it may be a little lengthy, but it gives us, mortals, a great view of what a racer goes through during a grueling endurance race. From the moment the R8 LMS leaves the pits he must come to terms with cold tires (it seems he goes a little wide at Tamburello as he leaves the pits), and also deal with traffic, etc.

In stock form, the customer-program-issued Audi R8 LMS features a 5.2-liter V10 engine that produces 495 horsepower, although that last bit may fluctuate depending on the specific series and governing body. While the engine is mostly similar to the street-spec model, the six-speed sequential gearbox certainly isn’t, as isn’t the aero package affixed to the R8.

It’s quite enjoyable to see the speed demon come over one of the several crests the Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari is known for, and seeing it stand on the brakes hard before turning left at over 230 kph. In many ways, it makes us miss the days when Formula One made its yearly stop at the iconic circuit. Well, with one exception, May 1994, of course.
