The twin-turbocharged stratified direct petrol injection 3993cc V8 TFSI propels the large but relatively lightweight all-aluminium 4553 lbs S8 from standstill to 0-60 mph in 3.6 seconds. It’s also good for a sub-12 second quarter-mile in 11.9 seconds at 118 mph. Top end is governed to 155 mph.
