Audi ASF

Audi partnered with the Aluminum Company of America to develop a lightweight spaceframe for its cars. The result was the ASF or Audi Space Frame, which not only showed the new platform but revealed the design of the original A8.

The aluminum spaceframe made the Audi A8 lighter and safer, with a more rigid chassis than other luxury flagships. It also led to better performance. The A8 handles like a midsize sports sedan. With the 296 horsepower 4.2-liter V8, the S8 was capable of reaching 60 mph in less than six seconds and can embarrass any number of performance cars of the 1990s.
