Default Are coilpack problems related to just the CP or is there more???
I know the 1.8t has had issues with CPs. So I am wondering if it is just a matter of CPs failing or could it be something to do with the engine design? Thanks guys!!!

So it is due to both a defective CP and the engine's natural tendency to release lots of heat?

Could it be something else???

Default Defective?? Who said anything about that?? My 1st one failed after 90k miles including plenty of
time. And I was chipped from about 40k. There's nothing defective there IMO.

The go bad randomly, but say a Big Turbo unshielded, would give off enough heat to screw with one.

Default I don't think it is that common from '01-on. There was definitely a batch of bad coilpack earlier.
Most were changed out on warranty.
