ok, so i just did a compresion test on my car, and now the car has no combustion on cylenders one and three??? i have no idea why. worked fine before i did the compression test. though i thought i had a blown head gasket... a little extra info on the compression test: cy. 1 had 125psi, cy. 2 had 115psi, cy. 3 and 4 had 130.... it seems a little low for a 9.5 to 1 compression? but back to the firing problem, i belive it may be either the coils them selves, but then again it could be in the wiring... i'll try switching around the coils to see if the missfire cylender changes. so if you have any idea as to what the problem could be or if you know what the actual compression of this motor is that would be great. thanks guys.

now 2 and 4 don't fire.... must mean that it is the coils. maybe i'll look for a good upgrade if they have some. if you guys know a good coil upgrade for this 1.8t, please tell me about it.

I just did a compression test on my 99 A4 1.8t and am having the same problem with cylinders not firing. I disconnected the battery to reset the computer and nothing. Did you ever find out what was wrong with yours?
