Ok there was alot of talk about me getting sand and other debris in to my intake. Since the mod I drove about 1.5k miles, i also live next to a construction site with lots of sand on the road.
What I found when I opened the airbox:
Filter was really clean there was NO SAND OR ROCKS.
A part from the small leaf and 2 small bugs. there was nothing there.
After rinsing with water in to a white bucket (gold rush style) i found nothing: no micro sized sand.
In Conclusion: I believe this is a safe way to mod the air box, to get the same or even better results as an evo kit or carbonio kit

original post

Why didnt you run a air-tight tube from the airbox to the grill? That way when you are not going 70mph+, you can still get some relative cool air.

something lest he lead more than you down this path.
The fact that he didn't find any grit on the filter media or in the air box is because it passed through the filter into the intake path and engine, there to do its damage. The oil type filters MUST have the specified oil on the media for them to trap dirt and detrious. By stripping his K&N of the oil his filtration is only marginally better than if he had pulled the filter media entirely.
There is a reason filters are in the intake path to begin with. It is to trap fine particles before they get into the engine. Pulling the oil will result in shortened life for both his engine and more than likely his turbo.

filtration, your failure to acknowledge many (especially automotive engineers) know much more than you or keep your head in the sand and deny it had anything to do with your fvck up.

then vacuum up a pile of dust and dirt. What happens to that pile? Is it in the tank or did it travel thru the tank and out the discharge port? Your air box is the tank and your engine is the discharge port.
