Default Secondary Air / Combi-valve

I'm getting code P0411 - Sec.Air Inj.Sys. Incorrect Flow Detected. The car doesn't drive any differently, but on startup it's making a loud screeching noise and it does it when I roll to a stop for the first few minutes it's running. It's obviously a secondary air issue, but could I just need a new combi-valve and not a new pump? Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought the secondary air pump makes more of a grinding noise when it's on the way out.

I'm also getting P1113 - Bank1-Sensor1 Internal Resistance too High. Sounds like an O2 sensor, but is there a chance this could be related?

Thanks!
Bryan

Default noise, and O2 sensor

the noise sounds like it would be the secondary air pump, but you can apply 12 volts to it and find out....... If you have VAG-COM you can turn it on and check it. If not just pull the connector and use some FUSED wires form the battery and see if it makes any noises like you have been hearing. Also the ECU uses the O2 sensor to check if the AIR system is working, I'd replace the Oxygen sensor first, since it's more important anyway, then go from there.

Default Do the pump first to make sure you need the Oxygen sensor....

as the secondary air system is pumping air into the exhaust system. When that system is not functioning properly you may throw off your oxygen sensor. I would do the pump and erase codes. If the oxygen sensor code comes back then replace it. There is a slight possibility that the oxygen sensor fault is there due to the secondary air system malfunction.

Default Re: Secondary Air / Combi-valve

Check vacuum hose to combi valve, check for water in your pump, check flow from pump when running, worst case senario - blocked flow ports in the head. 02 is most likely not related - needs a new front 02.
