Default 12V 2.8 died, please help...

My tank was almost at empty. As I was on my way to the gas station, the car started running rough. I drove like that for about a minute. When I give gas there was hesitation, it wasn't smooth. I stopped at the light and the car died. I got some gas and put it in, but it didn't help. I had to get it towed. What could it be?

Thanks.

Default it could be the fuel pump...

If you wait the tank until almost empty, the fuel pump could pick up debris lying at the bottom of the tank and it might clogged up the fuel pump.

Is there any DTC code?

Default I don't know if this will help you:

I found these codes that have to do with the fuel level and the fuel pump:

P1250 fuel low
P1500 fuel pump relay circuit malfunction
P1501 fuel pump relay circuit, short to ground
P1502 fuel pump relay circuit, short to B+

Default I guess something is clogged, so it doesn't throw any code.

Beside of clogged fuel pump, maybe the debris is picked up by the injector too and make the injector clogged. The injector hole is very small, so it is likely to be clogged.
My best bet is either your fuel pump or your injector has been clogged. But IMO, it is most likely to be the injector.

It almost happened to me on my volvo. The car starts to hesitate (fuel almost empty). I hurried to get injector cleaner and it solved the problem.

Default Thanks...

I guess I will try the injector first, and then the fuel pump if it's not injector. Now that I can't start the car, do you know how I can clean the injector?

Thanks

Default Sometimes you need to bounce the car up and down to get the fuel to pickup. Atleast thats what I

had to do on my frien's car when he ran out of fuel. It started up perfectly after that.
