Default after pondering this for quite some time i must ask the question.

so, assuming the primary venturi of a bored throttle body is cut in such a way that it creates a sorta "velocity stack", what purpose would that serve other than speeding the air up as it slams into the front (back) of the inner intake manifold, then being sucked through the individual runners after swirling about in the post throttle body chamber(hows that for a run-on sentence). it seem logical that this "velocity stack" would only serve to increase the speed of air in a beneficial way if it were directed into the runners themselves.
while porting my intake manifold, i noticed that the runners become larger as they approach the head. i know i mentioned this before, but it still just doesnt make sense. would it not make more sense, in terms of efficiency and performance, to reverse this effect. the air would gradually speed up as it rounded the intake manifold toward the heads. is this another conspiracy to keep the 12v under 175hp?? i am by far no expert on volumetric efficiency or anything associated with it, however, i do notice things from time to time.

just a couple of thoughts

Default hmmm. But I think it all comes down to the air at the MAF.

Then the ECU will send more fuel.

Default Audi engineers probably slow down the air to maintain the velocity as it....

enters the more restrictive intake valve area. If the velocity increases as it approaches the intake valve, it might cause cavitation at WOT and max RPM conditions, which are the limits that the intake system must be designed for.
