If I can't fine the Pennzoil, I may try it again to see how the consumption compares. I used it for a couple changes but don't remember how the consuption was. Plus, that could have been 50k ago.
I checked the Advance today and they have the new Pennzoil Platinum but no 5w40. :-( They did restock their supply of M1 T&S 5w40, though. This is good because at the rate I'm going through it, I'm gonna need some more soon!

The manager must be an oil nut. :-P
PP 5W-40 is made with very different chemistry than other Pennzoil oils. There are rapid changes happening in how oils are put together now. New chemistry is trickling down from API SM oils. PP 5W-40 appears to be made with a new Shell-proprietary base stock with a unique additve pack. The base stock is likely ethylene-alphaolefin polymer (EOP), which is a Group 5 oil, which is synthesized from ethlene gas, but which is LESS EXPENSIVE than a Group IV PAO base stock. This oil may give even Red Line, which is a predominately Group V oil, a run for its money at less than half the cost!
PS: The consensus is you should use the less expensive M1 5W-30 if you stick with the regular OCI in the RAV4.

It's a true Group V oil. It can however be made for less money than an inferior Group IV PAO oil, which means you pay half compared to a conventional Group V oil. Cheap, no. Inexpensive, yes! :-)

I am going to stick with Toyota's recommended 5k intervals (even with synth) while it's under warranty. Thanks!
I'm going to keep looking for the Pennzoil. I haven't given up yet!

You can always call Pennzoil and ask them for a distributor near you. Since most auto parts stores also carry Pennzoil, they might be willing to order a case (12 quarts) for you if you ask them.

I think Im just going to have to let her go. I cant keep holding on to that car. I did for a long time and it cost me. Ive weighed the options. Im not rich and to sink all that money into a car thats 10 years old w/ 230,000 miles would be crazy. Im just going to learn to cut the loss and move on.
Ill be here forever. The 12v is still a passon for me and will be.
