Default Here is what I still need to know

Does this mod completely disable the EGR valve? And if so, will this cause any problems other than emissions? O

I sealed it too. Although from what I evaluated, it doesn't matter

Default It disables it's normal functionality - i.e when accelerating. Test mode feature is still working

hence no CEL becuase when the ECU controls the solenoid to test the EGR system, it observes the changes in the idle speed and EGR temp sensor.

When testing emissions, hook it back up of course to lower NOx

Default That's what I thought, but I ran into a problem...

I disconnected the hose and replaced it with two short plugged pieces of hose. The engine idled with higher RPM than usually, and once the engine had warmed up a little, the idle became totally erratic to the point of stalling.

Here is an actual picture of the vac hoses. Could you please take another look? I want to be sure I disconnected the right hose. I disconnected the hose that goes from the left side of the solenoid to the right to the plenum at the top left. It's marked red.

And for comparison, here's again my schematic:

Default I removed the hose and after a short drive now have a rough idle <m>

the RPM's are dipping more than they used to. No CEL but will check for codes anyway after the hockey game. If I didn't block the plenum opening enough would this cause it? Maybe my EGR needs a cleaning? Thanks, sorry to bug you about this. =)

No fault codes present. Replaced the vacuum line, back to normal. Any advice appreciated.

Default oops. I just took a look right now (just got home) and I didn't plug the solenoid end...

make sure the plenum end is plugged securely to avoid air leaks passed MAF.

See if unplugging the solenoid end (leave open) works. If it does, I have a theory, and I must've got lucky not paying attention to it the first time :P

I remember I had to reset the ECU several times, that's because in playing with the EGR a couple of years ago, I did have my fair of CEL's when I was evaluating it's operation and trying new things.
