i started getting blue smoke out of the tailpipe after the engine fully warms up. during cold starts i get no smoke. not even a bit. during take offs sometimes i see blue smoke. what does this explain?
i just changed the oil 2 days ago. i am using pentosin 5w40. oil level exceeds the max level 2-3 milimeters. any of you think that maybe engine is burning the excessive oil?

Obviously you can confirm oil consumption by checking the oil level. That's good oil you are using, by the way. However, you'd have to grossly overfill the sump (more than a liter over max!) to get a problem with oil burning due to overfilling. 2-3 mm over max is no problem.

I would say your valve shafts seals and or guides are toast. Drive at higway speeds and get abruptly off the gas. High engine vacuum will suck oil right into the exhaust during engine breaking. That would confirm issues with your valve stems seals or guides. How many miles are on the engine?

it doesnt seem to smoke anymore although i get very light smell like burned oil. it has been 400 miles since i changed the oil and level is exactly at max. mark. i guess it explains that engine doesnt really burn too much. i will notice you again at 1000 miles and see how much oil is burned. my guess is it will burn around 0.5 quart but we ll see.
