Default Center Muffler

Has anyone been able to find a center muffler? I'm trying to buy one and cannot find it anywhere. Rockauto.com has it listed on their website but it's out of stock. I found one on ebay that is out of stock (and they tell me Bosal is out of stock too)

I have been looking for the Bosal 105-125. Is there a suitable replacement? In the searching of the forum I've done it seems that everyone says do not change the OEM muffler.

My car is a 93 90 quattro by the way (with a gaping hole in the center muffler)

All right, now I'm getting more and more confused.

My Bentley Manual tells me I want this one...

Which is what all the websites tell me when I try to buy a center muffler...

but my car has one like this...

I definitely have a different kind of cat y pipe. Here are photos from under my car...

It appears that the Vagcat has the right setup for me...

But I don't know what the aftermarket version of that center muffler is.

anyone have experience with this?

and then the BOSAL website tells me this...

They have the cat y pipe correct but the center muffler looks different than all the other options. Yet it is the #105-125 that the websites tell me I need.

the diagrams are not always correct as they usually cover couple of models with one diagram.

question 4 ya...

Are you 100% certain that that mid muffler leaks??? mine lost a "layer" from rust and is still sealed 100%

You will NEVER find a replacement for that muffler that is not OEM. 99% of them do not rust as they as SS IIRC, go to a wreckers and cut one out, best option.

It is definitely leaking. I can feel exhaust leaking on the top and bottom of the joint where the pipe comes off for the rear muffler.

Crazy Russian,

It would be a christmas miracle! If you are able to this weekend great - if not until January it would still be great. You are a life saver!

I don't have access to a welder but I bought all the couplings I thought I would need (parts # 265-829 and 265-955 in the Bosal diagram). I would think they'll work to join the pipes together where the cuts are.

Here are the photos...

I think that if you cut where the black lines are the couplings should work. What I'm looking for is about 6 inches of pipe with no bends.

Here's the back end from another angle

You are a life saver!
