My coolant is murky orange signifying that some jackass put green coolant in my pentosin. I am changing my timing belt this weekend and will be flushing the system out.

Can I use 50/50 plain green coolant? Dex-cool? Anything besides pentosin?

I presume your cooling system was filled with G12 (reddish)? You should use G12 (VW version has been discontinued) or G12 Plus (purple, also discontinued by VW), or G12 Plus Plus (not sure what color it is). Pentosin G12 should still be available.

After a thorough flush, which takes forever in case of the 12v's cooling system, you could also use Zerex G05. Stay away from Dex-Cool. While it is similar to G12, it is not the same and may be a much more fickle and failure prone fluid.

The application guide below is from 2006. You may want to check the Zerex Website for a current version. Again, I don't trust their recommendation of Dex-Cool.
