Default I shall drop dead!

[EDITED -- see reason in reply)

If I weren't able to buy Pentosin G12 so conveniently locally, I'd probably use ZEREX G05, because Dex-Death scares me a little. Dex-Death is not identical to G12 and it tolerates aeration less than does G05. For what it's worth, ZEREX recommends Dex-Cool for Audi since 1996.

Default The blue/green G11 coolant. When I did my TB maintenance on my '96 A6, I switched from the....

blue/green to the red coolant with no problems. There was an Audi TSB that coovered this change tghat was dated 10/96, but I don't have this anymore as I passed on to the new owner of my old A6.

Default Yeah, when it comes out brown.

You usually want to drain and refill the entire system with just water at least twice, including draining the block. Then re-fill with whatever your choice of coolant is and you'll be off n running.

Default Umm, no

On the chart that you show from Zerex, they recommend Dex-Cool for 1996+ Audis.

My late-year 1996 A4 (purchased in September/October 1996) came with pink G-12 from the factory; my mechanic just installed Dex-Cool while doing a waterpump replacement (failed at 30,000 miles, no time to do it myself). I hope that I won't find out that it's not compatible.................

Default You're right, my bad!

I mistyped at the early morning hour. Thanks for pointing it out.

I meant to say that Zerex has recommended Dex-Cool since '96. However, I'd use G05 instead, given the choice between those two coolants.
