I have a 96 A4, non-quatro. I"m pretty sure I need to replace the tranny, but it appears this is a fairly rare transmission. Either it's rare, or I'm looking at the wrong number to identify it.

By the way, the problem I'm haivng is that once it shifts into 2nd gear, the tranny locks up until the rpms drop to a point where it wants to be in first, then it just does it over again. It feels like someone slams on the brakes as soon as it hits second gear. I changed the oil and filter, but that didn't help. I checked for faults with vag-com and there are none.

Also, when I place the shifter in 2nd, the car doesn't move. But, all of the other gears will move the car until it shifts to second. Well, except for revese, it doesn't do it in reverse. Maybe that's an extra helpful clue.
