Default But he could get away with just removing some things to make it easier...

this is just not that tough a project when there's some stuff removed. Take the ISV out, the airbox, plenum, throttle body. Disconnect the fuel lines & purge lines. Do some clean-up and mainteance while its all out of the car.

You've turned this into an exercise in futility and frustration by trying to 'finagle' that pesky thing out of there with only the accordian hose removed. Sheesh no wonder this has become the monumental hassle it has.

Take all the stuff out I mentioned, clean it all up and swap the ECT the way it was meant to be done.

I did mine with a new ISV in under 1.5 hours with all this stuff removed for access.

Default Gosh, that would have been helpful to know ahead of time UrS4

Clearly I'm not an expert here, and I can use all the guidance I can get. I took everything out of there that I thought I should/could, but ended up snapping that breather line in the process. On the bright side, the CTS was successfully swapped out. Now I just need to replace the broken line. In the future I'll be able to help others in my situation, and I hope you will all continue to be patient with me as I learn more about maintaining this car I love. I appreciate your input now, and hopefully on future projects.

Default Actually that does not look like something I need

Unless of course someone could clarify WHY I might need that. I'll gladly support Abnormally Aspirated, but guidance is the key to convincing me to buy. Thanks.
