Default Fellow 12v Drivers I need your help....

This afternoon I noticed oil around my oil cap, there was a trail part way down my valve cover below it also. Then i noticed, on my top engine cover, that there was oil on the outside of the vents. My oil level is low too..so whats everyone think? There doesnt seem to be oil on the ground below my car. So, whats the deal?

Ho often do you check under the hood. It could be the oil cap seal. Also a valve cover gasket? There is no oil on the ground because it stays on the plastic wind deflector under the engine. It could something else too, I am not sure.

I check my oil once a week atleast. Thats a good point, its probably the seal..But, who knows. Im gonna check it out when I replace my Oil Pressure Release Valves on Saturday. They are also causing that "click". Ambitious ..I have ATS Planets too =) Only mine are 16's..How much were your 17's anyway?

Default From what I've read the oil pan and valve cover gaskets seem to be common to leak on our cars. The

valve cover and lower oil pan gaskets seem to be an easy change but the upper oil pan gasket looks like a PITA. I think you have to lower the subframe to get to it. BTW, my gaskets are leaking and I never see oil on the ground.

And, if you check your oil once a week and wipe that residue off teh valve cover then the rubber seal on your oil cap is probably leaking also. I think you can change replace the gasket. You can check with www.clairparts.com. If you're losing 1-2 quarts between oil changes the oil cap is probably not your only leaking point.

Default yeah...I don't think you can really leak from the oil cap....it just sprays some oil.

I need to change my oil pan gasket...its leaking badly. On 90, you need to drop a sway bar only, I don't think whole sub frame needs to go....I hope!

Default Well, hopefully you can get to it. A reliable source told me on the A4 the subframe needs to be

dropped. Sometimes I forget not everyone around here has an A4. =)
