Finally!! I have late-model MAF housings for conversion to Stage 2/3...
I just ordered 11ea 078 133 471A MAF housings with sensors that should arrive on Friday. Once I convert these I can provide almost immediate turn-around on exchange units. I'll also sell a couple Stage 2/3 units outright to owners of the earlier style MAF housings.
Costs for Stage 2/3 remain the same. The new MAF housings with sensors will add another $200 to those prices if you don't have a late model MAF to exchange. All MAF's sold "outright" will come with a 1 year replacement warranty against sensor failure.
Hopefully now I can get caught up on all these MAF orders and offer next day shipping from date of order once units have been converted. This practice of only having two exchange units and nine existing orders stretching into late September just sucks out loud!!
I don't know the appearance of these MAFs but each one will be tested before leaving here and if they've been left out in the elements I'll bead-blast them before making them available as Stage 2 or 3 conversions. Still beats $600 from the dealer or $425 from all the usual suspects for a new one.

More than likely. Mine has been re-done maybe 8 times over the last year...
And I've done another that Blaufergnugen did for a local guy. Since mine are bored to a larger diameter than the other guys are doing it's not been a problem to date. I have to go with a larger bore opening so I can fit the velocity stack's tapered walls and still maintain a similarly large bore down near the primary butterfly. And the mill is indiscriminate... it'll hog out whatever's placed below it's cutting tool.
So unless there's something I haven't seen/encountered yet I'd say yes.

actually they're not bad when buying used. The junkyards have a difficult time selling them...
because they are a bullet-proof design that will outlive the car unless a front-end accident forces them into the firewall. The butterfly shafts ride inside 4 sets of 10mm wide ABEC 6 needle/roller bearings that are pressed into the body... WAY WAY over-engineered. Thats the only reason I can offer core exchanges as unless they suffer some serious physical damage they just can't go bad.
Most of my core units were purchased in the sub-$100 range but I usually buy multiples at a time. But some junkyards were hanging off the crack pipe and telling me ridiculous prices while others are almost scarey cheap. I once bought 11 of them in a 5 gallon plastic pail for $350. But they were badly corroded and only 2 of them were A4 while the rest were 90/100/A6 units.
I know where there's a known good one available from one of my customers thats in great shape and I'm sure he'd take $100 for it. He knows who he is and anyone expressing an interest I'm sure he'll email you.
Like anything else there are deals out there. And for our cars with a little patience and resourcefulness you can usually do pretty well in the used TB market. And those deals are getting better all the time as more and more of these cars find their way off the streets and into the local boneyard.
