flickering climate control? any ideas
my climate control has started to flicker. sometimes it works fine. sometimes the display completely disappears, but you can still control the system with the buttons. just can't see what you are doing. any suggestions

The LED connectors to the circuit board just rest against it secured . . .
by pressure from twist tabs. It's a relatively simple fix, but easy to break something in the process, if you do not know what you are doing.
You need to do the following if I recall correctly:
1. remove the radio;
2. remove the trim piece held in by two screws behind the radio;
3. remove the climate control unit (two screws);
4. disassemble the the climate control unit main case (it slides out of its casing by prying apart a few plastic tabs on the back);
5. disassemble the climate control display (very delicate work here, because you can easily break the glued plastic tabs--but double check, I may be wrong on the need to disassemble this, as I also tried resoldering all connectors on the board and basically did a complete disection before I found the problem);
6. delicately untwist the metal twist tabs on the back the the display, lift, and clean the contact surface between the rubber-coated LED connector and the board.
7. Carefully reassemble the unit (but securely twist the metal tabs to make a good connection) and test before installing into the center dash.

Soldering the circuit board did not fix my flickering light . . .
As I explained in my post, fixing the poor connection between the rubber led connector and the board caused by the metal twist tabs solved my problem.
I also resoldered the allegedly cold solder joints as Kris did, but it did not fix the problem. Thus, I had to tinker for quite a while before I discovered the source of my climate control's flickering.
You may need to do the same.
