Default has anyone attempted to fabricate an intake manifold w/ pipe?

i was looking at the manifold and reading about its restrictions in mance's IM workshop. then it hit me. it seems feasible to bend pipe and fabricate flanges and holes for the injectors and egr. am i crazy?? it seems as though you would be create a manifold without restrictions.
what about some billet aluminum heads mance??!!

No, you should be the first one to do it.

Default I'd say bad idea

remove the restrictions yourself. That intake manifold is going to be better than anything you would make. Long runners and short runners operating to give you a better powerband. To quote someone I read somewhere it is a "thing of genius"

Default the biggest power gains would come from ITB's (Individual Throttle Bodies)...

with no tube/pipe whatsoever. The only reason I don't have this already is I haven't found a way to make a single airbox with adequate filtration or that I'm totally happy with. I WILL get there!

Even I don't have the machine tools or expertise to make my own heads. That takes a 5-axis CNC and fewer than 10 pairs would likely run in the $20k per pair price range. You'd have to do hundreds and hundreds to get them down to "maybe" $2k each and I KNOW this forum and ALL other 12V interest at-large could NEVER sustain the approximate $40k setup charge for even the first pair.

what do you mean?? buy another of the same manifold and modify it??
or, a different manifold all together??

so, would you have a TB for each head you mean?? how long would you make the manifold runners?? that seems like a great idea. perhaps two air boxes. why try to make one flow like that. you could fabricate a box with two chambers, or would it be better to fabricate a larger one with only one chamber?

Default "Individual" as the name implies equals 1 throttle body per cylinder...

The 12V due to it's 90* "V" permits a lot more room than the Alfa in the above pic with a 45* degree layout as well as a "lower/less steeply angled" mounting of the ITBs and their velocity stacks. However, my concept is that the airbox would be a single filter element that serves both cylinder banks via a "ram-air" 2-into-1 setup thru the lower/outer vent inlets in my RS2 bumper in follow-up pic.

Default My ram-air will come in thru the front lower/outer "grilled" ducts in my RS2 bumper...

they would converge near the airbox from 2-into-1. This leaves my smaller inlet higher ducts for brake cooling.
