Default Hey UrS4...

I'm going to give your suggestion of cleaning out the engine by using Marvel Mystery Oil a shot before my next oil change. I was wondering if you had any idea what effect 1 quart of MM Oil will have on the viscosity of my oil. After all, almost 1/5th of the whole amount of oil will be MM Oil. Should I take it kind of VERY easy for those 500 miles before the oil change, just in case?

Default I've never used more than a half quart at a time prior to oil changes...

But when using half quarts I just drive like I normally do. Might try a few ozs (4ozs) in your fuel tank at the same time as it'll reach places the MMO in the crankcase cant.

I've also only kept it in for a few hundred miles before doing an oil change. I don't think it hurts anything so much as it's important to get all the stuff the MMO breaks up out of the oil circulation system.

Try doing it for one full tank of gas before oil change in the tank and crankcase. That ought to be about optimum.

Probably better to do it on two subsequent oil changes at half-quart than all at once with one quart.

I try to do it on EVERY used car I buy and once a year thereafter but sometimes that stretches out to 18-24 months. But since I'm single/retired and own 3 cars I don't put a lot of miles on any of them. In fact I doubt I drive 7k miles a year all-told.

Default No time to drive!

You have too many toys. ;-)

Okay, I'll try half a quart MMO for a few hundred miles. And I'll add some to the gas. Thanks for the clarifacation.
