Default How to get better gas mileage?!

Hi, I just picked up a 96 A4 2.8 Q. I love this car and its in such good shape for its year. I did notice though that I get pretty bad gas mileage (like 260 miles on full tank of 97 or 93). What things/mods would you suggest I invest in to improve the gas mileage and/or performance. For example, if I install a cold air intake, does that actually increase HP while reducing gas mileage?
Also, what are the key things to know about the mods?
Thanks in advance for your help

Default How many miles.

Check the o2 sensors, clean the MAF sensor or replace if needed. Clean you're ISV/ICV. Probably a few more things to check but thats all I can come up with right now.

Default Not tech do a search in the 12v forum...but here is the idea...

For the MAF remove the two screws from the MAF sensor on the side of your MAF and carefully pull out the sensor (after disconecting the clip) Then I think most people used carb cleaner and sprayed the wire (plug side uppwards as to not wet the electrical)a few times until the wire is shinny. As for the O2 sensors can't clean must replace look at the thread 3 or 4 down

Default Here's my story...

9/13/03 - The previous milage just before
installation of UrS4's ported MAF plus
Stage 2 Hose Kit = 14.6 MPG.
The 962 miles since installation of the MAF
= 17.1 MPG. A 17% increase!
I had previously installed UrS4's CAI & VS.
Before all that, I had installed TDL's
bored TB.
3/7/04 - 964 miles from 2/4/04-3/17/04
and the average mileage = 17.2. In Dec. 03
I had to have the heads rebuilt & also Ported
& Polished them at the same time. I continue
to get better milage.
7/20/04- 2,253 miles from 3/17/04-7/20/04
= 16.7 MPG (14.4% increase).
1995 Audi Sport 90 Quattro
12v V6
1/22/05-1/26/05 - 682 miles on Cruise Control at 24.6 MPG.

Default Re: how to clean the MAF

Can't clean the o2 sensors, they require replacement.

https://forums.audiworld.com/12v/msgs/21493.phtml</a
