How much vacuum do our engines draw under deceleration?

No I dont but how would you go about finding out? I have so much free time right now I am jobless. Doubt I would be a very accurate sorce but I wouldnt mind knowing just for the hell of it.

the best way would be to tap into an intake manifold vacuum hose and attach a vacuum gauge. Then go like a bat out of hell down the higway, get off the gas, maybe even shift down and engine-brake. Get readings off the vac gauge. If you see readings over 20 inches of vacuum, then you may have found one reason for high oil consumption. High vacuum, we really should call it low pressure, can sucks oil right by the rings. I know I can cut my oil consumption in half by driving a bit milder, mostly with less engine breaking.

I need to go out and work on it. I havnt worked on it in a almost 2 weeks because I am scared its a bad oil pump.
