The old sauce was still honey-colored, but a bit smelly. When I used a magnetic pick up probe and stuck it in the old tranny fluid, I got some small flakes of what seemed to be stainless steel... :-\
The tranny is now considerably smoother, and the first gear tractor noise is almost gone. I hope the tranny won't die before the engine.
PS: So, how do I clean my transfer pump? :-P

with a weight hanging from both hoses into a five gallon plastic pail. By the time I need it again I doubt there's even 1/8 teaspoon of residual oil in the body/tubes combined. When it's time I just lift it off the wall, move on to the next quart of "whatever" and use it.
