I'll be using Mintex Redbox pads and I am looking for a rotor that will not shred my pads to peices.
let me know what you guys like.

I would recommend slotted, because . . .
while Zimmerman makes some of the best cross-drilled rotors, the drilling weakens the structure of the rotor. Zimmerman compensates for this by re-heating the rotor, but it's not as good as casting the holes like Porsche does.
I would go with slotted rotors; however, not ATE's powerdiscs with continous eliptical slot design. I have those and it's just overkill in So. Cal. Works great in the rain though.
Just get the regular slotted rotors.

why go with drilled/slotted rotors on the street? does it make that much difference with cooling?
I just don't want to put my brake pads on to cheese graters if there isn't a good reason to do so.

Actually, the purpose of cross-drilled/slotted rotor is that they are lighter.
I don't believe any cooling effect whatsoever and they aren't cheese graters
I got mine cheaper than regular rotor, so why not? It looks good too

Just finished my install of Zimmermanc X-drilled rotors, HAWK front pads...
and Mintex red-box rears.
First of all the brake feel is much-much better, could still use SS lines though. The car stops much better and the wet-brake feel I used to get during heavy rain is all but gone now. The fronts squeel a lot, but that is expected with these pads, so It's ok by me. All in all I am very happy with them. I haven't yet had a chance to go for a nice canyon run or anything, but plan to soo..
