I tried BG's 44K fuel treatment recently. Subsequently my cats died. Any possible connection?

Default Did you use it as prescribed?

BG 44k's forumla has been changed. The (expensive) ingredient (polyetheramine) that used to work so well is missing from the new formula, which appears to be overpriced junk.

Ingredients of the OLD 44K:
---------------------------
Polyetheramine (CAS N/A)
Heavy Aromatic Petroleum Distillates (CAS 64742-94-5)
Hydrotreated Heavy Petroleum Distillates (CAS 64742-48-9)
Napthalene (CAS 91-20-3)
1,2,4-Trimethylbenzene (CAS 95-63-6)

Ingredients of the NEW 44K:
---------------------------
Stoddard Solvent (CAS 8052-41-3)
Hydrotreated Kerosene (CAS 64742-47-8)
Light Aromatic Solvent Naptha (CAS 64742-95-6)

Going by the ingredients alone, I doubt they could have ruined your cats.

Default F'in a I just put a can in my car..

Its not cheap stuff at $20. Now they made it cheap and didnt lower the price, thats lewd.

Worse yet I just told a friend to go out and get this stuff :/. Well guess its time to try out techrone or whatever that stuff is called. Not that I use it very often anyway.

Default I've mentioned the BG 44k formula change a couple times this year

Red Line S1 works well. Techron is fine, but it did foul my platinum spark plgs. It had no negative effect on non-platinum plugs.

If you want to keep the fuel system clean, you may consider Fuel Power FP60, which does that and which is also an upper cylinder lubricant.

Default AutoZone sells RL S1 here

I also see it some better-sorted indpendent automotive supply shops.
