Default Here's proof.........................

9/13/03 - The previous milage just before
installation of Mance's ported MAF plus
Stage 2 Hose Kit = 14.6 MPG.
The 962 miles since installation of the MAF
= 17.1 MPG. A 17% increase!
I had previously installed Mance's CAI & VS.
Before all that, I had installed TDL's
bored TB.
3/7/04 - 964 miles from 2/4/04-3/17/04
and the average mileage = 17.2. In Dec. 03
I had to have the heads rebuilt & also Ported
& Polished them at the same time. I continue
to get better milage.
7/20/04- 2,253 miles from 3/17/04-7/20/04
= 16.7 MPG (14.4% increase).
1/22/05-1/26/05 - 682 miles on Cruise Control at 24.6 MPG.
6/4/2005 - 6/6/2005 - Drove round trip to Sparks, NV on US 395, the eastern Sierra's:
967 miles with an average of 26.1 MPG with a high of 27.73 MPG setting the Cruise Control around 70-75 MPH. That is better milage than when all those induction mods were first installed and
I got 24.6 MPG.
Equipment: Mance's Cold Air Induction System, S3 Velocity Stack, Stage 3 MAF, Stage 2 Hose Kit, XSTB, ported and polished IM.
All the above plus more HP. In my opinion, it is between 200-225HP.

Default Which hoses are part of that kit? I assume the long one from...

the air box to the top of the engine but I'm curious to know if it's just the slickness of the silicone that makes it better. Is the S2 kit something I could duplicate through Turbohoses or another silicone supplier? Also, does Mance still modify throttle bodies and MAFs? I'd love to know how much I'd be in for to have both done for mine. Blauparts does it as well, I'm not sure how good their's is but it's around $275 from them if I ship them mine.
Thanks for your help, I realize the info.is probably somewhere out there on a post but at least I'll have the info. sooner.

Default For the hose kit you will need to get one...

of these from Mance. You can get all of the silicone hosing from Turbo Hoses(2 90* elbows 3"ID, 1 straight tube 3"ID, 1 joiner and about 6 stainless clamps). The hose kit allows much more airflow over the stock ribbed tube and narrow plenum. There is no reduction in diameter from start to finish where the stock set up gets restrictive at the plenum, actually the MAF but...

Definitely go with Mance's TB and MAF upgrades. Send him an email with "Audi " in the subject or it will get spam filtered. I believe you have an "S" core TB which can be made into a SXTB, you will be very pleased. Good luck!

Default If you're in an A6, remember that your tube is MUCH longer that that of the people in A4s

Learned that the hard way when I had to sell my useless (for me) S2 hose kit.

Good thing the straight tube comes in 1m sections. You can cut it to size.
