I'm going to say this just this last time then I'm done with it...

That the engine fires every 120 deg. but the crank speed signal has designed in uneven pulse widths due to the "tooth spacing" on the flywheel. Is this even close to correct?

but since the engine speed is measured off the starter gear there are no missing teeth. Therefore the reference sensor tells the ecu what position the crank is in (acts as the missing teeth in a normal setup).
Of course all of this ignores the Hall sensor.

The gap in the counter weight gives accurate tdc info to the ecm. Then the ecm uses the engine speed sensor to count the flywheel teeth to time the other firing events (injection, spark).

then post here and tell us how it worked/did not work.
so giver, there are zillion's of chips for even fire, smack one in there.
my money is on it not working.

Does 034 not make a chip for the 12v now?
Yes it is obvious that there is an 'odd'crank reference signal used by the MMS 200/300 ecu.
It is obvious that the same ecu knows how to interpret that signal.
if 034 made a chip, what is hard to understand?
~mike.

Even your god Mance, knows that the 12V is an even-fire V6 with an Audi proprietary "uneven" crank ECM signaling.
When folks talk about "odd or even firing" engines they are referring to spark firing, not crank signaling to the ECM.
