Default IM Workshop Participants who have been referencing Mance's posts I have archived on my site...

I was reading though the posts and I didn't realize that I never updated the important post regarding the usage of each of the tools (it didn't have explanations for 4, 5, and 6). I also increased the font size because it was giving me a headache.

Don't forgot to reference the final tool list ("Porting Tools List") as Mance eliminated some of these from the final list.

Here's a link to the updated post.

Tools for the Workshop and detailed description on usage

Default That list was made obsolete by the post titled "Porting Tools List".....

which is about 2/3 of the way down your list of workshop posts. The main exception is the set of burrs. My understanding was that virtually all the work could be completed with burrs, flap wheels, kay rolls, and cross buffs. I'm about 80% through the project, and that's all I've needed.

I said that in the post. This still provides a lot of useful information.

Default I'd suggest picking up a used one and swapping them out when you're done...

that way you still have a running car, and have no real deadline when finishing the P&P'ing.

Just my 2 cents

Default You can pick up a used IM from any AAh or AFC engine...

so from a '93 90 to a 97 A4/A6. Only difference b/n the two is the brake booster tube. On the 90 it's straight, vs the A4 that has a 90* bend instead.

Any junk yard should have one. Best price I found was at Force5. $80 for the IM with TB, injectors, fuel rail, switchover solenoid, cruise control solenoid, and FPR. That was off a '93 90 though, one off an A4 will cost more. Since they were the same, I opted for the older one.

Default yeah, I'm toying with tossing mine back on...

I'm getting the feeling my old pads are almost shot. Haven't had time to get under the car to check 'em out though. Maybe this weekend. Got monday off, so I'll have time to mess around. I'm already planning on ripping the front of the car off to see why I'm leaking antifreeze. We'll see I guess.
