As I meantioned before though, those that want to start mixing it up who have 311 ECU's can retrofit the earlier systems very easily. The only thing different between them functionally is the lack of a CO adjustment POT on the MAF. And get the added side-benifit of a 400RPM higher rev-limiter.
We were testing the car here with MMS200 to MMS311 back to back with no wiring changes. Since the car came with a MMS200 setup it's already got the CO POT wiring, the 311 ECU simply ignores that pin, so it's a direct swap.

SO you are saying that my car, with the 311 ecu, can use the older 200 ecu with no changes, and get the 6700 rev limiter with no drawbacks?
Sorry for dumb question =)

So a bone-stock, non-chipped MMS-200 ECU wouldn't be a very good candidate, unless you reverted back to the smaller MAF.
With the 1+ chipset and the MMS-200 ECU you'd be good to go, and net a higher rev-limiter.

May work with some minor mods, but you'd lose the OBD-II abilities for sure.
