Salvage yards don't separate the intake halves as there's no replaceable parts inside

Really? Hope they send me the right thing. Sounds like it, though. He said it was 1 piece.

Default It probably is right. I was shopping 6 months ago and couldn't find one other than dealer

There's also no parts available for the switchover butterflies, shafts, bearing, seals etc that I can find on ETKA either due to butterfly plates requiring grinding to remove. That's gonna be a pain in my *** come re-assembly time. Each screw will have to be drilled out, then the shaft re-tapped to an over-size thread then new screws used.

If anyone can find internal switchover part numbers on their ETKA please contact me. External seals "may" be available as I'm sure those should be able to be replaced. Hard to imagine Audi would recommend intake replacement at $1200 for 2 five cent seals.

Default The switchover butterfly shafts and plates look like they're going to be the most difficult aspect..

of this entire project. And there's no "bearings" per se involved. Just drilled holes on the venturi's and and plastic sleeves pressed on the shaft where they pivot inside the venturi walls and at the manifold backside where the linkage is. And the seals are a weird affair as well. Circular and flat rather than a true o-ring. Round to fit over a circular shaft but flat at the front/rear sealing surface. Made out of Viton rather than Buna/Butyl rubber. But if I can re-machine the internal metal sleeve I may be able to adapt regular o-rings in Viton. It's going to be a LONG project so I've got plenty of time for research.

I'll post pics soon as I pull the manifold top out of the acid bath and rinse, clean it off so you can better understand.

So does this mean you have your own acid-bath capabilities?

If so, what exactly would something like that entail? Something that any of us can do ourselves or are we better off taking it somewhere?

Obviously we would have to be careful with the acid, but other than that...?

Default And also....

If I dont have access to an acid bath, would a good hydrosonic cleansing be sufficient?

Dont mind me, Im just picking at your brain a little.
