Default JWG, I forgot to mention one thing

The rust inhibitors in the marine oil will have no ill effect on your engine or emissions system.

Default Thanks . . . what the heck does one put into motor oil to inhibit rust anyway?

It seems most people have used oil itself for thousands of years to inhibit rust. I have to admit that I do not understand the issue of inhibiting rust within the engine. Have you ever seen a regularly operated engine with rust in it?

Given that people worry about it, I guess that I need to learn a bit more about water craft and their problems--damn "landlubber" that I am.

Default Many pleasure craft spend most of their time...

moored or sitting in a boathouse, depending on length of boating season. Those boats are rarely regularly or frequently operated, hence the requirement for additional protection. Consider the salty, humid air. Oil doesn't maintain a protective film for unlimited lengths of time.

Rust inhibitors can be oil-soluble or water-emulsifying. They make sure that water will not get in contact with the metal. I believe amines and fatty acids are some rust inhibitors commonly added to oil.

Here are pics of a marine engine that had been sitting for a few years:
