I'm talking about traditional cars that dont require a drain pan underneath the filter when loosening. A filter you can remove completely without loosing a single drop of oil. Vertical-mounted filters that allow them to be un-screwed and then removed and moved over to a pan then disposed of and no oil runs out or leaks from them at all until they are turned Audi-direction (side-ways).
Audi filters cannot do that no matter how much jacking you do as filters have anti-drainback flaps to prevent them loosing their contents back into the car when car stops running. If they didn't the entire system would have to re-prime and pressurize each time you start the car with a resultant 5-10 second delay to prime the filter and all lines. Same thing that occurs each time you do a filter change. Thats why it's a good idea to fill the new filter with oil as much as you can before installing. A trick made more difficult by the fact you have to turn it sideways to reinstall it and when you do oil escapes from the return line (center hole).
Turn the car on it's passenger doors and there will still be oil in the filter that'll run everywhere soon as it's loosened.
