+----[F]--------------|S\------x
+= +12 V
[F] already existing fuse for interior lights
|S\ = door contact switch
x = door sill light, positive terminal
This way you may not have to add a fuse, depending on how much juice the door sill lights draw. Are they LED, tungsten, or neon? Doesn't it say in the instructions? If the lights draw too much, you might blow the existing fuse in the circuit.
You could add a completely new circuit and a new contact switch on each door: Tap into +12 V at terminal 30 at relay box (under dash.

I can't tell from the picture. It could be a lightconducting material with a few LEDs, it could be an electroluminescent material, or it could be a lightemitting plastic. How many Amps does it draw? There must be a spec sheet and also instructions!

IzarI96A4Quattro, try this. Look for the switch that turns the interior lights when you open the door on in the door sill. Pull it out and with a voltage meter, figure out which line is hot and ground (if there are more than 2 lines it'll take a lil hunting... I don't know off the top of my head). Then just tap these into the 12v line and ground. Make sure to keep the small resistor on the wires to those sills attached. My cousin made the mistake of removing it on one of his and blew out the LED inside. Needless to say he had to get a new one. I don't think they will draw enough to warrant an extra fuse, but if it worries you, toss a 3A inline fuse or something low in there to protect it.
Tapping the lines is a helluva lot easier than routing to teh fuse box, esp since you need to go to all 4 doors. If it were just the driver's side it'd be easy... but all 4 will be a royal PITA IMHO.

... and that's assuming they are the super-bright variety. Judging by the picture, each door sill light contains only a coupld LEDs. I'd probably skip the fuse, too. Also, if he taps into the existing wiring, the line already contains a fuse. I wonder if he wants to install two or four of those door sills. So much work for... ;-)

lil rubber thingy that comes out when you open the door... aka the switch to the interior lights. Pull that out. Take a volt meter and test the wires when the button is in the "out" position. Then push the button to the "in" position... which is when the door is shut, and test the wires again. You want the one where the power is on with it in the "out" position, and power is off for the "in" position... otherwise your bling will be on whenever the car is on.

I'm gonna take a guess you popped open the main cluster wires to the windows, locks, etc. DOn't our cars have an exposed switch? Or maybe it's in the latch itself. Lemme go check my car out this afternoon and I'll get back to ya. You might have to pull the door panel off to get to the switch (which might be located on the door latch).
Didn't think this was gonna be this much work did ya
