Oil consumption should be considered when choosing an oil. In general, I'd stick with a 5W-40.
If you want a premium synthetic oil, I suggest Pennzoil Platinum 5W-40 European Synthetic Formula. This oil might work, even if you have mild oil consumption issues. If cost is no issue, try Red Line 5W-40. If you have consumption issues with the RL, get fixed what needs fixing. Other options include Motul, Elf and Amsoil 5W-40, Lubro Moly and Pentosynth oils.
A good choice is also Castrol 5W-40. Because it's a Group III oil, oil consumption may be lower than with a full synthetic.
For a real oil burner, I suggest Chevron Delo 400 15W-40 mineral oil. While oil consumption will likely drop, it's not a fix but a band aid.
