Well I topped off my fluids today and she needed a quart and a half of oil for approx. 1300 miles. My viscosity is 10w30. First of all i'm wondering if this is high consumption? It sure seems that way to me. What are the possible/probable leak spots or reasons for this much consumption? Here are some pictures i took a few days ago, you can see that there is obviously oil leaking from somewhere on the right side of the engine. Do my head gaskets need replaced? Let me know what you guys think.

Until you have fixed your oil leaks it will be difficult to establish actual oil consumption. Most 10W-30 oils do not neet the minimum requirements of your engine. Use an oil that meets VW 502.00 or ACEA A3, preferably a 5W-40 like Castrol 5W-40 from AutoZone. You can also use Mobil 1 M1 5W-40 Truck&SUV. Don't use Red Line until you have fixed your oil leaks. You will be wasting money. If you choose Red Line, go with their 5W-40, although their 5W-30 should work, too.
I'd say if your engine consumes more than 0.5 qt per 1000 miles you ought to find the cause(s).
Like mentioned below by someone else, the valley pan gasket is likely leaking and spilling oil between the heads. Also check the valve cover gaskets and cam and crank seals.
Make sure your PCV system is working properly.

and you wouldn't notice leaks on the ground, because the bellypan catches most spills and what drips out while driving you won't notice.
