New to forum / 12v FAQ thread
Hello, I'm new here somewhat. I've just registered today, but have been a lurker for several years. It seems lately that the 12v forum has been progressively dying off over the past few months and in an attempt to rejuvinate some life into it, why dont we put together a thread pertaining to 12v only issues, maintenance, tips, tricks and performance products that work on the ill-famed 2.8 12v engine.
I can vouch for quite a few things, including the use of 1.8T transmissions (steeper gear ratios) to achieve a better band of power and I can report that there is a mileage increase on top of the torque amplification you get by installing a DJJ trans.

ill be the first responder with some tricks!
1! the biggest keep it stock or power adder is the: ports the injector line is cut off by un-machined metal remove an injector and peer into the hole!
cure: gasket match porting i sugest using a die grinder or files and finish by a good hand sanding!
2. nasty nasty oil in the intake! buy a catch can or make one: bond a tube into the lid of a metal container preferably a jar or sport drink can going to the bottom perforate the tube up to half way. attatch a metal screen to the half way mark. put another tube just into the top of the lid. put screen into container and fill with steel wool as you slowly push the mess down. a home made catch can!!!
3. boy i love how the 12v throttle body is crap! fill the sides of the throttle body with metal epoxy or aluminum welds covering the small butterfly tube generously use a 1-1/8 hole saw in a drill press and cut the venturri out! sand polish done. do all porting before hand. research this! vap sells a good one!
well that's all now out of the GT1 work shop see you next week!
