Yes, I did, along with the valves under the valve cover. I did end up putting in a used oil pump, same problem except now the oil was just oozing out of the check valve port under the valve cover, without it actually screwed in. With it in, there was not enough pressure to get through so really the oil pump didn't do anything. I then narrowed it down to a clog in the head, did all the work of tearing everything down, Again and there it was, a clog in the head gasket. The head gasket has a "calibrated hole" to ensure oil pressure to each block.(12v.org). Here is what caused the problem. Little trash between the those two holes in the gasket kept oil from getting to the left head. The last owner replaced the oil cooler gasket and lower oil pan gasket, I'm almost positive they let gasket pieces into the oil.

Thanks, yeah I made sure I cleaned it up really good. I'm just glad I went with the used oil pump instead of a new one. I should of listen to everyone from all the other posts saying that they rarely go out. Either way the whole problem only cost me about $165: head gasket, 10mm tri-square socket, and the used oil pump.

I read it, but found it more complicated for some reason, maybe because there's no pictures. I used the Haynes repair manual.

Yup, everything's back together and cleaner then it was before. Car runs great, lifter noise went away. Plus I ran some seafoam through it just to be sure.
