Wishful thinking.....
I've been trying to figure out what has gone wrong with my Lubrication system. I am not getting any oil to my filter.
Checked that the relief valve on he Pump is not damaged or stuck...
Next will be a good look at the oil Pickup tube.
I understand that these pumps rarely fail, is that your experience?
I had changed the Head gasket on the drivers side...all was fine for 3 days, car ran great...then suddenlyI had LOW pressure which improved with revs. After changing the oil and filter, all was fine for another couple of days. Then it dropped to zero...There is no pressure now, no flow to the filter either...
Any suggestions?
Much appreciated.

You would need a "direct pressure" gauge, to test the system, and determine the exact cause of the problem

Would I tap into the Sending unit Port? I don't believe oil is getting that far seeing that the filter is dry. Does the oil circulate through the filter prior to supplying lubrication under pressure to the engine? Understanding this should help me eliminate anything on the top end and focus on the inlet tube, Pump, relief valve and Filter/oil cooler.
On the early AAH engine, there is a relief valve inside the plate which feeds the oil filter....have you ever tried removing/servicing this?
Thanks for your advice....

It almost sounds like something went wrong with the headgasket install? Maybe some dirt or debris fell into one of the oil gallies?
You might consider dropping the lower oil pan and getting a visual on the oil pump intake screen?
Depending on what you find in the lower pan, this could prompt further actions.

Well, Problem seems to be Solved.
As mentioned, I removed the Alternator so that I could gain access to the Oil Relief valve. This seemed ok...no debris or broken spring....Then I took another good look at the oil pickup tube, o-ring and Screen housing...Although the inlet screens rubber housing has begun to become hard, I applied some heavy oil to the tube/rubber interface....Then held a container of 40W oil up to the inlet while I cranked the engine. The oil filter was off.
I could see the oil level in the container drop and oil started spurting from the Oil Cooler....
So I buttoned her up and filled the engine with oil and VOILA.......
Can't confirm that it wasn't the Pressure relief valve but I truly think that the inlet tube needed a good seal and priming. Hopefully it will stand the test of time.
MIKTIP thanks for your advice.
