P0605 internal control module ROM error
Also got 16989.
I was driving in hot weather today. It had about 96F. When I started the engine it began bucking like a mule. I disconnected the battery and kept going without problems. But almost every time I turn the engine on, the CEL comes on and the bucking occurs.
Does that code sound like my ECU is toast?

I've never sourced one but you could probably find a used one for a couple hundred bucks
from a salvage yard. You may need a VAG to program it. Not sure. Impex has them new for $1400.
