Default Pentosin 7 or 11S?

I need to top up my power steering fluid. The stuff thats in there (put in by dealer) is kind of a brown color. It's very clean with no crap floating in it. What is the color of the Pentosin 7 or 11S. Can I top up with 11S if it has 7 in it. I need about 2-4 fl oz as the level is just above minimum level when warm. The whole system was flushed about 2 years ago when I had a leaky reservoir replaced.

11S is what you want and it's some expensive stuff.

Default Why do you think it has Pentosin 7 in it?

I believe the spec calls for 11 (be sure to check), can't imagine why a dealer would add anything else. If I recall from the last time I topped up, Pentosin 11 is a kind of dark brown color, like oil. The can warns against mixing their various products. Wait 'till you see how much a liter costs at an autoparts store!

Default Re: 7 is for older(pre-1993?) & 11s(synth) is for newer. ;O)

PENTOSIN CHF 7.1 is a special hydraulic fluid on mineraloil basis with typical functions, such as level control, shock absorbing, power steering etc. Due to the broad temperature range - operating from -40° C up to + 100° C - Pentosin CHF 7.1 is especially suitable in regions of cold climate. Its use is especially recommended for vehicles of older construction.

Pentosin CHF 11S
PENTOSIN CHF 11S is a special hydraulic fluid with an even more extended temperature range -40° C up to min. 130° C., within which perfect operating is guaranteed. Due to this fact Pentosin CHF 11S is especially suitable for a variety of hydraulic network and steerings of latest vehicle developments, where the applied fluid has a direct influence on safety and driving comfort.Pentosin CHF 11S guarantees a perfect operation of all hydraulic systems, such as power steering, rear axle steering, level control, hydropneumatic suspension, shock absorbers, active damping of engine fixtures, hydrostatic drive for fan, generator and air condition, stability and traction systems (ABS/ASR/ASC), electrohydraulic cabriolet top actuation, central locking systems etc.

Pentosin CHF 11S is therefore not only used in many vehicles of well known automotive manufacturers, but also in engines of agricultural and other special vehicles. This fluid is especially suitable for operation in climate regions which are exposed to extreme temperature fluctuations, as well as in systems of reduced volumina and small construction part sizes.

http://www.pentosin.de/eng/products/chf/body_hydraulic.html</a
