Well summer's almost here, which means that my bank account can start rising again instead of just dropping. I'm getting ready to make my car abnormally aspirated, but I'm concerned about my automatic transmission. I know that miktip blew his tranny out, and from what I gathered, it was because of the increased horsies. Is that right? How much more can you beef up the engine without damaging the tranny? Thanks

all I can say is that the audi 5speed auto in that car is the best auto I've ever used.
The car was tuned a little to maybe 190HP but I've whipped the car around 180degrees using the handbrake at speeds in excess of 75mph just for kicks and the tranny never faultered.
Considering the wheels are spinning like mad creating a HUGE cloud of smoke (enough to fill up an intersection and make it unusable for a few minutes due to 0 visibility *grin*) while the car is moving in the opposite direction that it's facing, this should create some serious load on the tranny.
I've also had an incident where I was trying to downshift to engine brake (put it in the '2' position) and I accidentally moved it to 'R' while I was doing about 50 and the wheels just started spinning in reverse. I was sure the tranny was toast but it just kept on working.
This may shed some light as to what I mean when i say that Audis are the only cars I've had so far that survive my driving![Smile](https://www.audiworld.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
I'd have to estimate the tranny could handle at least 250lbs/ft of torque.
