Default Not necessarily a "need" but will allow you to "adjust" your a/f ratio.
The smaller ID o-ring will richen your mixture the most. Some have used these to cure lean codes, too, after installation of the S3 MAF.

Experiment with them and see what you think. It won't hurt and, what the hell, it's included! I am running largest ID o-ring, iirc.

Default Without VS, and with K&N, could we be looking at oil contamination?
Or, such turbulant air that MAF readings are unstable?
