No, I'm not thinking of doing it, just trying to gather information for fun. Ok now that I got that out of the way...
I have read a lot of posts that say that you need new piston's to run anything over 5 or 6 PSI. But then I found this post by RobK, saying that the stock internals hold up well to power.
Also, both of the 12v turbo's I have seen have ran some kind of header. Does anyone have anymore pics or info about Audiboy's chopped mustang header? Also, Mance has said that a ported stock exhaust manifold would be good up to ~280hp, would this rough figure change with forced induction?

Yes you could slap a turbo on virtually any engine, but....
In order to make boost above say 10-20psi, where the real power is, the engine has to have internals to handle this. Plus on a street car, you want some longevity out of the motor...
Even RobK rebuilt his turbo motor, to better handle the added boost. ;O)

And then put in new pistons? Would colder spark plugs help with this when using the stock pistons?

Why would you spend all that money to do the turbo upgrade then wait to upgrade pistons later. Why not wait until everything is ready and do it all at once.
I think he is also saying your engine unless heavily modified to handle the new boost isnt going to last long in the real world.

You can turbo a 12 valve, the motor has nothing to do with it, its all about the electronics on our cars, its not cheap to Turbo our car's because it requires you to goto a stand alone engine management system. And this is only because the ECU's in our cars is the literal needle in the haystack when it comes to design.
But because of this major handicap in our vehicles nobody has ever been successfull at Turbocharging a 12 valve. This requires custom work and not bolt on parts which in turns costs you the consumer three times as much for the same amount of HP.
My two cents
